Privacy Policy
Last updated: January 15, 2026
This Privacy Policy describes how Nakamamesh iOS (“Nakamamesh,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use the Nakamamesh mobile application (the “App”). By using the App, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Overview
Nakamamesh is a peer-to-peer messaging application. The App uses Bluetooth to discover and communicate with nearby devices. Location permission is required by iOS to enable certain Bluetooth discovery behaviors. Messages and related data may be stored locally on your device. We do not operate a centralized backend server at this time. We do not use analytics SDKs or crash-reporting SDKs. We do not sell or monetize personal data.
Development Notice: Nakamamesh is under active development. Future features may include optional internet- or Tor-based connectivity. If new data flows or server-based services are introduced, this Privacy Policy will be updated accordingly.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
You may choose to provide a nickname or username (if you set one) and message content that you send to other users.
Information Processed Automatically (On-Device)
For basic operation and security, the App may process certain information locally on your device, including device and app information (such as app version, device model, and operating system version) and local technical identifiers required for peer-to-peer networking (such as peer identifiers or cryptographic public keys). This information is not transmitted to a central server.
App Permissions
The App may request access to Bluetooth, which is used to discover nearby Nakamamesh users and exchange messages, and Location (When In Use), which is required by iOS to perform Bluetooth scanning and discovery. Nakamamesh does not use this permission to track or store precise GPS location data unless a location-based feature is explicitly introduced and enabled by you.
Notifications (Optional)
If you enable notifications, the App may send notifications related to messages or app activity.
How We Use Information
We use information solely to provide peer-to-peer messaging and discovery functionality, maintain security and network integrity, prevent abuse or misuse, and improve app stability and reliability. We do not use data for advertising, profiling, or marketing.
Messaging and Security
Nakamamesh is designed with privacy and security in mind. Messages are intended to be encrypted in transit between devices. Secure communication relies on cryptographic keys stored on your device, and session keys may be derived during peer-to-peer handshakes.
Important Security Considerations: No system can guarantee absolute security. If your device is compromised (for example, jailbroken, rooted, or infected with malware), stored messages or cryptographic keys may be at risk. If identity verification between peers is incomplete or unavailable for certain flows, a nearby attacker may attempt impersonation or relay attacks.
Data Storage and Retention
On-Device Storage
The App may store message history, group or channel memberships, saved contacts or preferences, and cryptographic keys used for secure communication locally on your device. We do not store this information on our servers.
Data Retention
Your data remains on your device until you delete it within the App (if supported), uninstall the App, or manually clear app data or use available security features.
Quick Delete (Emergency Data Removal)
The App includes a Quick Delete feature intended for emergency or panic situations. Location: Settings → Quick Delete. Action: “Triple tap to delete all data.” Intended effect: removes local messages, contacts, cryptographic keys, and settings, and resets the App to an initial state. This action affects only your device. Messages previously sent may still exist on recipient devices.
Sharing and Disclosure of Information
Peer-to-Peer Sharing
When you use the App, certain information is shared directly with other users, including your chosen nickname (if set), messages you send, and technical data required to establish secure connections (such as public keys).
Service Providers
At this time, Nakamamesh does not use third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services. If third-party service providers are added in the future (for example, to support optional internet or relay features), this Privacy Policy will be updated to reflect those changes.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose information if required to do so by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of users or others. We do not sell personal information.
Children’s Privacy
The App is not intended for children under the age of 13 (or the minimum age required by applicable law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your Choices and Controls
You may manage or revoke permissions in iOS Settings, disable notifications, delete conversations or clear data (if available), and uninstall the App at any time.
International Use
Nakamamesh currently operates without centralized servers. All data processing occurs on your device. If future features introduce server-based or cross-border data transmission, this policy will be updated accordingly.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Significant changes may also be communicated through the App or our website.
